The Applied Policy Artificial Intelligence Council is India's foremost independent non-governmental organisation dedicated to the rigorous, evidence-based governance of artificial intelligence in the public interest.
Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies are reshaping the foundations of modern society. Governments, businesses, and public institutions increasingly rely on algorithmic systems, large-scale data infrastructures, and interconnected digital ecosystems to manage economic activity, public services, and global communications.
While these technologies create unprecedented opportunities for innovation and growth, they also introduce complex governance challenges related to privacy, accountability, security, and human rights. The responsible development of digital technologies therefore requires strong policy frameworks, transparent governance structures, and international cooperation.
The Global Artificial Intelligence Governance and Data Protection Council is an independent policy-making body dedicated to advancing responsible governance of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and data ecosystems.
The Council works to develop policy frameworks that support technological innovation while protecting fundamental rights, promoting digital trust, and strengthening democratic institutions.

Founded in 2026, APAiCouncil was established to advance responsible Ai policy and governance. It brings together experts dedicated to shaping ethical frameworks and guiding Ai innovation for societal benefit.

APAiCouncil is supported by a diverse group of 38+ policy researchers who analyze emerging Ai trends, assess risks, and develop evidence-based recommendations to inform global and regional Ai governance.

The council comprises 12 distinguished members from academia, industry, and public policy, providing strategic direction, expert oversight, and multidisciplinary perspectives on critical Ai issues and regulations.

APAiCouncil has released 6 comprehensive policy frameworks addressing Ai ethics, safety, transparency, and accountability, helping organizations and governments adopt responsible Ai practices effectively.
The Applied Policy Artificial Intelligence Council is a non-profit organisation in India advancing responsible Ai.
